During the La Mirada City Council meeting on September 12, 2017, Solid State Devices, Inc.’s CEO and founder, Arnold Applebaum, received a commendation from Mayor Ed Eng and the City Council, “recognizing SSDI for its 50th anniversary milestone and long standing history of industry excellence and leadership.” Since its opening in La Mirada in April of 1967, SSDI has designed and manufactured hermetic discrete semiconductors and assemblies for critical aerospace and defense applications.
As a graduate of UCLA’s electrical engineering program, Mayor Ed Eng expressed his appreciation for SSDI’s longevity in supplying electronic products in a rapidly evolving industry. SSDI currently occupies three facilities within a 3-mile area in La Mirada. With its recent acquisition of a three acre complex just two blocks from its Firestone Facility, SSDI looks forward to many more years of business with the city of La Mirada as its base for operations. Mr. Applebaum thanked the City Council and invited his employees in attendance to join him in sharing this recognition.
