2023.01.24 - SSDI Develops HiRel Solutions for Competitor's Quality Issues

SSR30250CTJ: 30 A, 250 V CT Schottky

La Mirada, California – When a competitor’s part raised reliability concerns, SSDI’s customer needed a replacement to avoid similar issues for another space program. The application required a 200 V center tap Schottky in a doubler configuration, which was necessary for derating and reliability purposes.

The customer considered SSDI’s 10 A, 200 V center tap Schottky as it was the closest alternative in its online catalog at the time. Since the application required a 15 A device, SSDI selected alternative die to develop new, higher current prototypes so that the customer could begin testing as quickly as possible. The resulting SSR30250 series offers 15 A, 200 – 250 V center tap Schottkys in the TO-257 package. This series consists of multiple configuration options including common cathode (SSR30250CTJ), common anode (SSR30250CAJ), doubler (SSR30250DJ) and doubler reverse (SSR30250DRJ). SSDI also worked with the customer to create an SCD for the space level flight units that would be needed in the following year.

3H focus + design / packaging flexibility = solutionsSSDI is focused on delivering high reliability, high performance, and high density products to aerospace and defense programs. This focused approach combined with its design / packaging flexibility allows SSDI to offer hirel solutions that meet specific electrical and mechanical needs. Though the customer only had interest in replacing the TO-257 device in the existing design, SSDI can also offer surface mount options to maximize space and potentially lower costs.

Since SSDI builds to customer SCDs, the online catalog only shows a small sampling of the products supplied to high reliability programs. A brief discussion about your application can reveal how SSDI can resolve quality, performance, and supply issues that threaten to cause program delays. Contact SSDI online or at (562) 404-4474 to discuss your specific program needs.
