Since SSDI has delivered high reliability semiconductors to space programs for over 55 years, it has been very active in supporting the new global space race to the moon and beyond. With the tremendous growth of private partnerships with government space entities, SSDI has been very busy supplying both QPL parts and parts manufactured in accordance with SSDI or customer source control drawings. For example, SSDI’s JANS1N7068US and radiation tolerant P-Channel MOSFETs are currently on the moon with the recent success of two separate lunar lander programs. SSDI’s Space Approved Products brochure has been updated to feature the products that have been approved for numerous domestic and international projects including lunar landers, rovers, satellites, and manned spacecraft projects.

By building parts to order, SSDI can offer high performance parts that meet or exceed specific application requirements. When one space program could no longer procure the 1N6766 – 1N6767, SSDI offered the SDR626CTM series as a replacement for the discontinued QPL parts. Rather than waiting for a new QPL production lot, SSDI can offer high reliability replacements with enhanced performance and / or additional screening requirements based on the programs’ needs. For another space application, a customer needed to replace the 2N3700UB, a 1 amp, 80 volt NPN transistor in the UB package. The customer preferred the SMD.22 package due to its better thermal performance, so SSDI added the SMD.22 package option for its SFT3700 SCD. The 30043-SFT3700S.22AS has been designed in for a rover application.

Due to its focus on space and defense programs, SSDI is continually delivering high reliability solutions for critical applications.
