La Mirada, California – Several defense contractors working on the same program could no longer procure the 2N4261UB, a -30 mA, -15 V PNP transistor. One of the customers needed space level screening with a minimum total dose radiation tolerance of 100 krad. This customer also needed some parts in the UB package with a ceramic lid and additional parts with a dual matched pair in a single UB package. In contrast to the uncertainty of when the previous supplier would restart production, SSDI delivered prototypes of the SFT4261UB for evaluation and radiation testing.
Two additional customers, working on different portions of the same program, requested a center tap version in the UB package and a dual PNP transistor. The SFT4261GW dual transistor can replace two 2N4261 devices in a single 6 pin Gullwing package. The small, lightweight Gullwing package offers many advantages including easy solderability inspection, flexible leads for stress relief, and dual configurations (matched or complementary pairs).
SSDI is uniquely equipped to respond to the specific needs of high reliability programs. Since SSDI has primarily served the Aerospace and Defense industries for over five decades, it has a long history of delivering high performance, high reliability products that cannot fail under the harshest conditions. When customers are unable to procure parts, SSDI can step in to provide multiple configurations and packaging options. When standard parts fail to meet the customers’ requirements, SSDI has the flexibility to target specific electrical requirements such as offering higher gain and matched pairs. For example, the SFT4261AGW dual transistor offers the option of matching forward current gain, collector-emitter saturation voltage, and base-emitter saturation voltage.
Since many of its products are built to source control drawings to meet specific program needs, SSDI’s online catalog is only a small sampling of its capabilities. By sharing your key requirements, SSDI can provide product recommendations that match your project and deliver engineering units for rapid evaluation within a few weeks. Contact SSDI online or at (562) 404-4474, to discuss your current program needs.
Multiple Solutions for Out of Stock Transistors
- Design flexibility: target key electrical performance (e.g. higher gain and matched pairs)
